Stylish seatings for an elegant and cozy open space

“The Wallace Collection Restaurant”

The restaurant is located inside the prestigious museum “The Wallace Collection” in London, a meeting point for lunches or for enjoying a cup of tea in an elegant yet informal place. Object of restyling, the restaurant has renovated its look with modern and clean lines.

“Concepts by Braida” has supplied the seatings.

The customer asked for a complete supply of chairs, armchairs, beam seatings. All the chairs have been designed by the architect, in charge of designing the spaces.

Based on the original project, the chair’s back is in oak wood. The back continues its way down to the chair back legs where the front part of the metal seat shell is fixed. The thin and rounded structure of the chair legs wouldn’t have been resistant enough to the prolonged use and to the pressure exercised on the back.

This criticality appeared on the drawing already, and got even more strong after choosing the oak wood, a precious species, which is anyway less resistant than ash wood and beech wood. “Concepts by Braida”’s technicians suggested to replace the oak wood with the beech wood in order to gain a higher resistance, and to make the back legs in metal.

Changing the materials meant saving money as well, because the beech wood is less expensive than the oak wood.

The first prototype of chair was made with a metal frame  where the back in beech wood was inserted. The beech wood was chosen thanks to its mechanical resistance which is higher than the ash wood or oak wood’s resistance.

For the armchair instead, “Concepts by Braida” has suggested to choose the ash wood, species that is visually more similar to the oak wood.

Since there was no time for curving the wood, in order to make the back of the chairs -  the customer had only 10 days time for placing the prototypes in the building site -, “Concepts by Braida” has produced two basic samples meant to check the encumbrance and the functionality.

The final prototypes have been made later on and approved by the purchaser.

The seatings have been upholstered with tailor-made fabrics whose pattern recalls the  ‘W’  in the museum’s name. Furthermore they comply with the BS5852, the British Standard for fire tests for furniture.

The lead time of 8 weeks was met, even if it meant that most of the work had to be done in August, the month when Italian companies mainly close down for summer holidays.

Spaces furnished with character and optimized for big numbers

Restaurant “Spazio Donizetti”

The curvilinear spaces created by the buildings of the “Palazzo Lombardia” in Milan, give shape to an interesting place. Open-air yet sheltered, an occasion for aggregation and working. Exactly in this square is located the restaurant “Donizetti”. A project signed by the architect Fabio Vinella.

“Concepts by Braida” has supplied the tables and chairs.

When you spend some time in the self service “Donizetti” what impresses you immediately is the design of the rooms, furnished in a tidy way in order to simplify the coming and going of people in the rush hour, without appearing forced or spoiling the atmosphere, which is always cozy and relaxing.

Some seatings have been conceived for the ground floor, some other for the upper floor, a mezzanine where the more discreet room is.

For the chairs, armchairs and bar stools, the customer has chosen the model New Buffy from the collection Opera, combining tradition and experience in the wood manufacture.

In order to fulfil the customer’s requirements in terms of budget, the armchairs have been made with solid wood armrests and frame. For the back ”Concepts by Braida” has chosen a sandwich panel stained to dark walnut: this makes the seat lighter and reduces the product’s cost.

The so called convivial tables, designed by the architect Fabio Vinella, are conceived as a sharing point where work and conviviality can be mixed. After receiving the final drawing, “Concepts by Braida” has made this huge table with a squared central hole, through which  network cables and electric cables could pass and be hold up by a green plant used also as camouflage. A table ideally composed by 4 rectangles perpendicular with each other and staggered. This project was technically conceived by Marco. An ideal space were to grab some food, but also a space where you can have a chat with someone or work, literally a convivial space.

Regarding the room in the upper floor, the idea was to create a more discreet space with a refined atmosphere. For this reason “Concepts by Braida” has designed and produced some tables with a higher height than the standard, in order to match them with the bar stools. At the same time they have added some details in neoclassical style, which have created a original match between shape and dimensions.

The three round tables were meant to be placed in the mezzanine. Since the tables were conceived in order to be always covered by tablecloths, “Concepts by Braida” has made them in lacquered plywood, a good compromise between functionality and price. The customer expressed as well the need of joining them when needed, in order to obtain a big oval table. “Concepts by Braida” has therefore produced two light extensions, easy to be quickly fixed.

A few months later the customer has asked for an additional service: the outdoor decoration  in order to be able to welcome an important event related to the Salone del Mobile, the furniture fair in Milan. “Concepts by Braida”  has supplied chairs, 2 seater beam seatings and stacking tables meant to furnish the restaurant’s dehor, which is located in the very center of the square “Piazza Città di Lombardia”.

Colorful armchairs reflecting the ease of the fifties and sixties

“Restaurant Arcona Living”

The hotel “Arcona Living” in Osnabrück is located in a modern and central building. A hotel inspired to the fifties’ theme whose restaurant has an informal and relaxing atmosphere.  A space where you can comfortably sit, taste and have a chat.

“Concepts by Braida” has supplied armchairs and bar stools.

The customer had in mind a cozy environment furnished with plain chairs, with clean lines, timeless. Not exactly chairs, but armchairs, upholstered and comfortable.

The lively impact comes from the colors chosen. Some chairs are upholstered in orange, a nice color standing out the color palette selected for the restaurant, the other armchairs are light grey and amalgamate with the different tones of olive color of the beam seatings.

The customer has chosen the armchair Cloé from the Soft collection. In order to satisfy the customer’s desire of matching the materials in the restaurant, “Concepts by Braida” has personalized the chairs, making the structure in bleached oak wood. Moreover some elements have been made with a special height, in order to be combined with the counter tables. In order to increase the comfort,  these armchairs have been  equipped with a metal footrest.

For the bar stools “Concepts by Braida” has started almost from scratch. The armchairs’ vintage style has been inspired by the bar stool Danyel from the collection Opera. The legs have been produced in bleached oak wood with a footrest in chromed metal rod. The plastic seat upholstered with polyurethane foam has been covered with fabrics chosen by the customer.

Also for the bar stools, the customer has asked “Concepts by Braida” to produce some pieces with a non-standard height.

With the Bespoke service, “Concepts by Braida” aims to satisfy exactly this kind of specific requests, even with a small number of pieces.
